This service is available to people living alone in their home, to counter isolation and promote psychological wellness. Its goal is to relieve solitude, and provide support and comfort to our clients. Requests are sent to CAB and a compatible volunteer is selected. CAB ensures follow-up and support.

PROCEDURES

All requests must go through the CAB Les Artisans de l’Aide office. We will confirm eligibility using the following criteria:

  • Anyone experiencing loss of autonomy due to age, illness or handicap.
  • Anyone living at home alone, with no social contact.
  • Open to residents of the RMC of Deux-Montagnes and Mirabel South.
  • If the individual is evaluated and referred by someone in the health and social services network and meets the eligibility criteria, their service request will be accepted.
  • If the requestor has not yet been evaluated, an employee from the centre will perform the evaluation. The requestor must also meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Requests must be sent within a reasonable time frame, to allow for client-volunteer pairing.
  • The volunteer will contact the client to schedule the visits.
  • The coordinator will ensure follow-up with both the client and the volunteer.
  • This service is free.
  • HLM (low-rent housing) residents and residents of private establishments offering social activities are not eligible
